Before we delve into the realm of hen nights and fancy dress for hen nights let’s first look at what exactly is fancy dress. Well it is not as the name suggests wearing a dress that is fancy! It means dressing up with the intention of mimicking a celebrity, a famous figure, or to portray a person from a particular time period. Why would you do this? A hen night is the term used to describe a party that is held for the woman who is about to get married, it’s the female equivalent to a stag night A hen night is considered to be the last night of freedom for the woman before she gets married and so you can imagine it being a little wild. Many hen nights have a fancy dress theme to kick start the celebrations; a common theme for this type of party is angels and devils. Due to the popularity of fancy dress parties over the years there is no end to the choice of costumes available these days. A devil costume can consist of as little dressing in red with devil horns or going full out and wearing a proper devil costume, which usually consists of a red leather tight body piece, a fixed tail, a headband with horns attached, and carrying a devils fork. The same applies for the angel either you can wear all white and maybe carry a wand with you and spray some glitter, or you can go for the full monty and buy or rent an angels costume, don’t forget your halo!

Devil and angel costumes aren’t the only theme to have for a hen night, you can have anything you want literally, Abba, favourite action hero, famous singers and so on, so get creative, if your going to get dressed up why not go for it in a big way.
